From a new brand launch and social media support to Notting Hill Carnival goodie bags, we were very busy in August!
Another month, another blog post and August did not disappoint at FDD! As always, the month was full of great brand activity, such as retailer blog features and brand launches… Keep reading to find out the top highlights from August at FDD.
Notting Hill Carnival x FDD
Notting Hill Carnival took place from Sunday 27th to Monday 28th August this year and, like every year, we supported by donating 500 goodie bags, full of textured haircare products, to the Burrokeets band! Each goodie bag contained a full-size product from Camille Rose, Mane N Tail, EcoStyle, and Jamaican Mango and Lime.
To get the bags ready in time, the marketing team set up a production line with all the products and bags laid out at stations. With a little bit of fun (the girls raced to see who could fill a bag the fastest!) and a lot of hard work, all 500 bags were filled in no time, ready for the infamous carnival.
Sliick’s Amazon launch
Our new brand Sliick finally launched onto Amazon last month! The personal care brand specialises in at-home waxing kits for convenient and affordable hair removal and body-pampering. To support the launch, our PR and Social team, consisting of Madison, Sophie, and Carly, have been working hard to create social media presence for the brand across various platforms, such as TikTok and Instagram. This will help the brand reach the right consumers, creating a community and boosting brand exposure in the UK.
Pattern on the Beauty Bay blog
As the middleman between brands and retailers, our marketing team works to arrange retailer marketing that will benefit the brand best, using the given budget in the most effective way possible. Sometimes, however, retailers give marketing activations for free! Organic mentions and shoutouts are always appreciated and help massively with brand exposure so we were super happy to see Pattern mentioned in not one but two Beauty Bay blog posts!
The retailer’s post highlighting ‘12 moisture-enhancing hair products to rehydrate your hair’ featured Pattern Intensive Conditioner, calling it out as an ‘ultra-hydrating, deeply nourishing hair mask’ that’s a ‘go-to’ for tightly curled or low porosity hair. Their post on ‘11 best conditioners for curly hair’ also featured a Pattern Conditioner – this time the Heavy Conditioner had a shoutout… The post referred to it as ‘everything you could ask for’, saying the ‘super hydrating and curl-loving formula’ smooths over every single curl, leaving you with ‘healthy-looking curls in just one wash.’

EcoStyle on social media
EcoStyle recently had a branding refresh, with new packaging launching into all UK retailers throughout summer. The new packaging is sleek and fun and gives the products a bright edge on the shelves and online. To help launch the new packaging, the PR and Social team arranged for @savdanyell, an influencer with over 17k followers, to create and share a video where she shows off the new packaging and talks through the product’s benefits, highlighting the fact that the formula has not changed and is the same highly effective formula that consumers love. Check out the video by clicking the phone below.

EcoStyle also received multiple organic mentions from retailer social media accounts throughout August. For example, ASOS shared this video of @afsaanah using EcoStyle Olive Oil Styling Gel to create a beautiful curly hairdo. With over 14+ million followers, this was amazing exposure, and even more appreciated as it was free!
All in all, August was a brilliant month for FDD and its brands and we can’t wait to see what’s to come as the financial year progresses! Look out for more updates and make sure you check out our other blog posts here.
